South Salem Saxons Boys Soccer 3-0 Sprague

South Salem's boys soccer team kept a clean sheet Thursday night, topping crosstown rival Sprague 3-0 in a Central Valley Conference (6A) home match played in Salem, Oregon. The shutout victory pushes the Saxons to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play, a strong position as the league schedule begins to tighten heading toward the postseason. Facing a familiar Sprague squad the Saxons know well, South Salem controlled the match from the opening whistle, finding the net three times while denying the Olympians any real chance to answer. The defensive performance was particularly noteworthy, with the back line and goalkeeper combining to preserve the clean sheet through the full ninety minutes. The three-goal margin gives South Salem a healthy goal differential boost in the CVC standings. With conference play in its final stretch, the Saxons will look to build on this momentum and chase down a top playoff seed when they return to action next week.
