North Salem Vikings Boys Soccer 0-1 McKay

A single goal was all McKay needed Thursday night, as the host Scots defeated North Salem 1-0 in a 6A-6 Central Valley Conference boys soccer match played at McKay High School in Salem, Oregon. The Vikings, who entered the contest at 4-6-3 on the season, could not find an equalizer and dropped the narrow decision, falling to 4-7-3 overall and 3-5 in league play. North Salem controlled enough of the match to create chances but was unable to convert, and McKay's lone goal proved to be the difference in a tight, low-scoring affair that came down to fine margins. The loss is a tough one for a Vikings side that has shown resilience in close games this season, with three draws already on the ledger. North Salem will look to regroup quickly as the final stretch of the regular season approaches, and the Vikings will need results soon if they hope to improve their conference standing before the postseason picture becomes clearer.
