North Salem Vikings Football 16-13 McNary

A three-point margin was all it took for North Salem football to pick up a crucial Central Valley Conference (6A) victory Friday night in Salem, Oregon, topping rival McNary 16-13 in a hard-fought league contest. The Vikings improved to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play with the win, snapping what had been a difficult stretch of the season. North Salem controlled just enough of the game to pull out the narrow victory, holding the Celtics to 13 points in a defensive showing that proved to be the difference. McNary made things interesting late, but the Vikings were able to protect the slim lead when it mattered most. The win provides genuine momentum for a North Salem squad that entered the night at 1-5 and in need of a spark heading into the back half of the schedule. The Vikings will look to build on this performance when they return to action next week.
