McKay Royal Scots Girls Soccer 1-6 South Salem

South Salem handed McKay a 6-1 defeat Monday evening in a Mid-Willamette Conference (5A) girls soccer matchup on McKay's home pitch in Salem, Oregon. The Scots struggled to generate consistent offensive pressure against a Saxons side that controlled much of the contest, finding the net six times to pull away convincingly. McKay did manage to get on the board, providing a bright spot in an otherwise difficult evening for the home side. The result drops McKay to 1-9 overall and 0-6 in conference play, as the Scots continue to search for traction in a competitive Mid-Willamette slate. South Salem's firepower proved too much to contain, and the margin underscored the challenges McKay faces as the back half of the season approaches. The Scots will need to tighten their defensive structure and build on any positives from Monday's effort. McKay returns to action later this week with a chance to find their footing before the regular season winds down.
