Central Panthers Boys Soccer 0-2 Newport

Newport handed Central a 2-0 defeat Tuesday night in a 4A-3 Oregon West Conference boys soccer match played at Central High School's home field in Independence, Oregon. The Panthers were unable to generate an answer to Newport's two-goal effort, falling to 3-11-1 on the season and 1-8 in league play. Newport controlled enough of the match to keep Central's attack from finding the back of the net, leaving the Panthers without a response on their own pitch. The loss is a tough result for a Central side that has battled through a challenging campaign, but the team continues to gain experience in a competitive Oregon West slate. Central will look to close out the remainder of the fall season on a positive note and give its players meaningful minutes heading into the offseason. The Panthers will have another opportunity to compete when they return to action later this week.
