McKay Royal Scots Girls Soccer 0-7 McDaniel

McDaniel handed McKay a tough lesson on the road Tuesday, topping the Royal Scots 7-0 in non-league girls soccer action. McKay, based in Salem, Oregon, and a member of the Mid-Willamette Conference (5A), entered the contest having opened the fall with a win but could not find an answer for a McDaniel side that controlled the match from start to finish. The seven-goal margin reflected a difficult night for the Scots on both ends of the field, as the visitors struggled to generate consistent offense while the defense was tested repeatedly throughout the evening. Non-league matchups against strong out-of-conference competition can serve as valuable measuring sticks early in the season, and Tuesday's result gives McKay plenty of film to work with heading into conference play. The Scots fall to 1-1 on the season. McKay will look to bounce back and build on its early-season lessons when play resumes later this week.
