Stayton Eagles Girls Soccer 5-2 Newport

Stayton's girls soccer team showed no trouble making the trip to the coast, defeating Newport 5-2 on Tuesday in a 4A-3 Oregon West Conference road match. The Eagles from Stayton, Oregon, controlled the contest from start to finish, netting five goals against a Newport side that managed two in response but never truly threatened to close the gap. The commanding victory pushes Stayton to 9-2-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play, keeping the Eagles firmly in the mix at the top of the league standings as the regular season winds down. Road wins at neutral or hostile environments can be defining moments for a team eyeing a postseason run, and Stayton's ability to put up five goals away from home speaks to both the offense's efficiency and the squad's overall confidence at this stage of the year. The Eagles will look to build on the momentum when they return home and continue pressing toward a strong finish in the Oregon West Conference.
