South Salem Saxons Softball 1-12 Ashland
The Saxons couldn't find their rhythm at the plate Friday afternoon, dropping a 12-1 decision to visiting Ashland in non-league softball action. South Salem managed just one run against the Grizzlies' aggressive offensive attack that produced double-digit scoring.
Ashland took control early and never looked back, building a commanding lead that put the game out of reach by the middle innings. The Saxons showed flashes of potential but struggled to string together consistent at-bats against solid Grizzly pitching.
The loss drops South Salem to 0-3 on the young season as the team continues searching for its first win. While the early results haven't gone their way, there's still plenty of softball left to play this spring.
Head coach and players will look to regroup and focus on the fundamentals as they prepare for their next outing. The Saxons have shown improvement in practices and remain optimistic about turning things around. South Salem will look to bounce back in their next game and get that elusive first victory of the 2026 campaign.
