North Salem Vikings Softball 7-21 Crescent Valley
Crescent Valley's offense proved too much for North Salem in the Vikings' softball season opener Tuesday, as the Raiders rolled to a 21-7 victory at North Salem High School. The non-league contest marked the start of what the Vikings hope will be a rebuilding campaign after graduating several key players from last year's squad.
The Raiders jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, capitalizing on opportunities throughout the game. North Salem managed to plate seven runs but couldn't keep pace with Crescent Valley's explosive attack that produced 21 runs on the afternoon.
While the final score wasn't what the Vikings had hoped for in their home opener, coach and players will have plenty of video to review as they prepare for upcoming contests. Season openers often reveal areas that need attention, and North Salem will look to make adjustments quickly.
The Vikings will have a chance to bounce back when they return to action later this week. With a long season ahead, there's ample opportunity for improvement as the team continues to develop chemistry and refine their approach.
