McNary softball faced a tough reality check Monday afternoon, falling 16-0 to South Salem in a league matchup at home. The Celtics were held scoreless while the Saxons put together a dominant offensive performance that ended the game early.

The loss snaps what had been a strong start to the season for McNary, which entered the contest with a 9-3 record. South Salem's explosive offense proved too much to handle as the Saxons took control early and never looked back.

McNary now sits at 9-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play, still in solid position despite the setback. Games like this can serve as valuable learning experiences for a team that has shown it can compete at a high level this spring.

The Celtics will need to regroup quickly and refocus on the fundamentals that got them off to such a promising start. With several league games remaining, there's still plenty of opportunity to bounce back and make a strong push toward the postseason. McNary's next chance to get back on track comes later this week.
