Stayton Eagles Boys Soccer 2-3 Cascade

Cascade handed Stayton a 3-2 defeat Tuesday night in boys soccer, snapping the Eagles' unbeaten start to the season. Stayton, Oregon's squad traveled to face the Cougars in an Oregon West Conference (4A) road matchup and came up one goal short despite a competitive showing. The loss drops Stayton to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in league play after entering the night with a perfect 7-0 record. The Eagles had established themselves as one of the stronger sides in the conference through the early going, making Tuesday's result a notable setback. A two-goal performance from Stayton showed the offense remained capable, but the defense could not contain Cascade's attack down the stretch. With the OWC race still very much in front of them, the Eagles will look to respond quickly and get back on track. Stayton's next opportunity comes later this week, giving the squad little time to dwell on the defeat.
