Cascade Cougars Girls Soccer 2-0 Newport

A clean sheet at home pushed the Cascade girls soccer program one step closer to postseason positioning Thursday, as the Cougars defeated Newport 2-0 in a Oregon West Conference (4A) league contest played in Turner, Oregon. The shutout win improved Cascade to 7-4-1 overall and 5-2 in conference play, keeping the Cougars firmly in the mix as the league race tightens heading into the final stretch of the regular season. Newport offered little offensive threat on the afternoon, with the Cascade backline and goalkeeper combining to preserve the clean sheet throughout the match. The Cougars found the net twice to build a comfortable cushion, though details on individual scoring were not immediately available. The victory is a meaningful one for a team that entered the game at 6-4-1 and needed a result to stay competitive in the standings. Cascade will look to carry this momentum forward as the calendar turns toward the final weeks of the 2026 Oregon fall season.
